Rustic atmosphere

with all the comforts

A place to enjoy yourself, simple and warm, where you will find fresh and high-quality products. Its ochre-coloured, sandy walls decorated with oil exhibitions by different painters, a fitting musical selection, and its dim lighting make Kupela a place with its own kind of charm.

Our welcoming environment and our traditional Basque cuisine, rich in fresh fish and seasonal products, are our hallmarks.

Our dining room is a space where you can feel at home.

A building with history

Kupela Restaurant is located in the same building as the old Fishermen’s Association of Hondarribia, and was erected in 1866. In those days, the nets used by fishermen were kept and dyed in this building.

Back then, the sea reached the building where our restaurant is located today. It retains the original architectural structure and is built with beach sand and oak beams from the 14th century, which can be seen in the dining room itself, making it one of the most unique and outstanding buildings in the traditional Marina neighbourhood, where it is located. It is a building with a lot of history and symbolism that represents a true treasure in the heart of Hondarribia.
